The history of England is a story which lies in its Monarchs and this poster shows the fascinating family tree. From Egbert, the first Saxon king recognised as King of all the English through to the Norman King William I (The Conqueror). From the Plantagenets of Richard I and Richard III and the Tudors of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Finally, the family tree comes to the Windsor’s including Elizabeth II and Charles III.
The timeline starts from 43 – c.410 AD with the Roman occupation of Britain and runs through to 1953 and the coronation of Elizabeth II. Highlights include 1066 when William of Normandy defeats Harold II and seizes the throne, 1215 when King John and his barons sign the Magna Carta, 1348 when the Black Death enters Britain, 1553 after the death of Edward VI Lady Jane Grey becomes Queen for two weeks, 1605 and the foiled Gunpowder Plot, 1641 – 51 the English Civil War, 1666 and the Great Fire of London, 1912 and the sinking of HMS Titanic and 1940 and The Battle of Britain.

This A3 size Kings and Queens of England poster shows the comprehensive ‘family tree’ of all the Monarchs of England from Egbert who reigned from 802 through to Charles III. As well as the name of the King and Queen there is information on the time they reigned and the dynasty they were part of. The poster also includes a timeline down the left side that highlights the main historical events that have shaped the history of England, and down the right side are pictures showing the evolution of the Royal Coat of Arms. The poster is supplied rolled in a clear cellophane tube.
